===== Quick Start Guide =====
VoxTune is a software tool for editing monophonic vocal recordings.\\
After recording via the microphone or after importing a vocals file, the app analyzes the audio material and displays the found pitches in the note grid. Here you can now correct the pitch of the individual notes. The result of the editing can then be exported as an audio file.\\

==== App Interface ====
The app's interface is divided into the following areas.
  * At the top is the application bar with the undo and redo buttons. With the three-point icon you can open the menu.
  * A progress bar is displayed below the application bar for longer processes, such as importing a file.
  * The grid of notes takes up most of the surface. The pitches found by the app are displayed here.
  * On the left is a keyboard with the 88 keys of a piano.
  * Below is the button bar with buttons for Rewind, Play and Record.

==== Import a Vocals File ====
Open the menu (three dots in the top right) and then tap on "Import vocals". A file browser will open where you can select the vocals file.\\
VoxTune will now import the vocal file and analyze it at the same time. The progress bar is displayed at the top of the screen.\\
After the analysis, the found pitches are displayed in the note grid.\\

==== Recording ====
Instead of importing a vocals file, you can also record the vocals directly with the app.\\
Press the Record button to start recording. The app may first ask whether a recording that has not yet been exported should now be exported or whether it may be overwritten.\\
Now the recording starts. As you sing, the found pitches are drawn on the grid.\\
To end the recording, press one of the three buttons in the lower button bar. The app now analyzes the recorded audio signal and displays the pitches found in the note grid.\\

==== Playback ====
Playback of the recording is started by tapping the Play button. Playback begins at the position of the Play Start Marker, a vertical line initially at the 0:00 position. The Play Start Marker can be positioned at the corresponding position by double-tapping in the note grid.\\

==== Touch Gestures ====
The note grid responds to various touch gestures.
  * The note grid can easily be moved with one finger.
  * The note grid can be scaled with the two-finger gesture.
  * The Play Start Marker is positioned at the appropriate place by double-tapping.
  * Touching and holding a note box activates it and it can now be moved.

==== Editing the Notes ====
To correct the pitch of individual notes, press and hold a note box. You will now hear the associated audio signal in an endless loop as long as you keep the note box pressed.\\
By moving the note box up and down, you change the pitch accordingly. To get a better view of where you are placing the note, you can slide your finger sideways while holding the note box, the note box remains active.\\
Lift your finger when you find the right pitch.\\
In addition to the voiced notes, sibilants are also displayed. Sibilants are symbolized by an open note box. Normally it is not necessary to change the pitch of the sibilants.\\

==== Export the Vocals File ====
**Note**: The export function is a paid feature, you can purchase it via in-app purchase.\\
\\
The audio signal is stored within the app. To make the audio signal available to other apps, you need to export it. In the menu there is a corresponding item "Export vocals".\\
If the vocals have been recorded with the app, VoxTune will ask you if you want to export the original recording or the edited recording. If you want to export both, you have to call up the menu item twice.\\
A file browser opens with a suggestion for a file name. The suggested file name consists of the name of the imported file with the date and time appended.\\

**Important**: Please make sure that the file name ends with ".wav"! (The automatic suggestion already has the correct file extension.)\\

==== Settings ====
Function and appearance of the app can be adjusted in the settings menu.\\
Open the menu (three dots in the top right) and then tap "Settings". The individual setting options are described below.\\

=== Concert Pitch ===
Setting the frequency of concert pitch A.\\
The standard concert pitch is internationally set at 440 Hz, but it can also have a different value in an orchestra, for example.\\
You should only change this setting if you know the reference pitch of your accompanying music.\\

=== Design ===
App theme customization.\\
As usual, there is a light and a dark theme and also the option to automatically adapt the theme to the system settings.\\

=== Quality of Pitch Analysis ===
Two methods with different quality and analysis speed are offered for the analysis of the pitch.\\
The standard method provides high quality pitch detection, but takes longer to analyze.\\
The faster method yields a slightly lower quality of pitch recognition.\\
Choose the method that best meets your requirements.\\

==== In-App Purchase ====
The audio signal is stored within the app. To make the audio available to other apps, you need to export it.\\
While all other features of the app are available for free, you must purchase the export option via in-app purchase.\\
The purchase process is handled by Google Play, so all usual payment methods are available.
